Castlevania 3 - Perfect (no flaws)Symphony of the Night - Excellent (some boss fights too easy)Castlevania - Good (6 stages is short by later standards; discontinous learning curve)Castlevania 2 - Good (fun to replay, nonsensical puzzles the first time through)Castlevania 4 - Almost good (too easy, second quest STILL too easy, mostly a g&s sideshow than a hardcore Castlevania game; doesn't play like the other Castlevania games - in particular, the play control is too different from Castlevania 1, 2, 3, and SotN)
I know this was supposed to be for rating the Final Fantasy games, but I think I'll put that off for now - at least until I finish FF6.

I read that in an interview with a Konami representative; the question remains whether that particular spokesperson really knows whether that's true or not.
As for Castlevania 4 being like a Castlevania game, it really didn't seem like one to me when released. Castlevania 1, 2, and 3 all basically have the same play control, with the exception that Castlevania's is not quite as responsive, the hit detection isn't as good, and holding the whip button down when on a stair case doesn't result in automatic whipping like it does for Castlevania 2 & 3. Now, Castlevania 4 totally changed the engine around: Simon could move in the air, he was a lot bigger, the whip control was different, and you needed a special button for the special attacks. SotN's play control seems to me to be like a return the the play control of the first three Castlevania games, and I like that better.
