Now that I think about it, I don't think it took me more than one try to beat any boss in Final Fantasy 5, either, but I haven't made it to any of the hard bosses yet, like Omega or X-Death. I have, however, been whiped out in random battles. Oh, wait, that's not true - I died several times against Shiva in FF5. Another thing that made FF7 stand out as easy in my mind is that it's almost never necessary to run from enemies. I didn't run from any enemies until the final cave, where you encounter toonberries, which it makes much more sense to run from than to try and kill, since they have tons of hit points and instant death attacks, and because I'd rather run from Gargolyes than wait for them to became vulnerable. I first ran from enemies in FF4 in my latest trip through the game in the sandlion's den, when I encountered slimes that can only be hurt significantly by magic.
