One of the best games that I've played from Squaresoft is *gasp* SaGa Frontier. It was so mind-numbingly hard that I jumped for joy when I mastered the game and finished it. I died more times in that game than all the PSX and SNES RPGS put together, but I pressed on and finished it!
Now Grandia, was WAAAAAY too easy. The only time I ever needed to revive a character was during the final battle, and I never used a potion once, and I used healing magic just for the sake of leveling water magic up to get new magics. Even the final boss was more pathetic than Sephiroth, and the Dark King from FF:MQ. Come to think of it, FF:MQ was harder than Grandia! Oh well, it doesn't really matter all that much. I just hope that SaGa Frontier II is just as hard, if not harder than it's prequal. I think I'll have a blast with that one.
Oh, Alundra's also very difficult as well.
HAHAHAHAHA!!! Don't make me laugh... I could crush you like an insect. Heh heh, but first, I will tell you a breathtaking secret about the Angel's power... And the legendary force that was forged with it...
